Your Free Cross-Cultural Communication Tool – A Translation Widget

by cindy on 1 May, 2008

Translation Widget

Need an easy translation tool?

Give your international readers a tool to read your website while they are still on your pages.

This free translation widget will keep your content on your website. This means your readers will stay on your website while they read your content in their own language and not somewhere else.

Easy Cross-Cultural Communication

This sidebar widget is a great Cross-Cultural Communication tool.

Simply download any of the different widgets here.

All In One Click On A Flag

All your foreign visitor has to do is click on a flag. A new page will open with a complete translation of your page into the language that the flag represents.

This is done using the online translation tool offered by Google.

Your foreign visitors will recognize their own country flag.

24 Languages – Multiple Versions

This tool translated between 24 languages. It detects the language used on your site.

It doesn’t matter if your site is in English, German, or any of the other 22 languages. This tool will figure out

Google Translation tool

what language to translate from, and gives your foreign visitor the language he wants. A complete list of all 24 languages is at the bottom of this page.

Install And Forget It

If you are running a blog and install this widget in the sidebar, it will translate the post that the visitor is reading.

If they are on your homepage, it will translate the entire homepage.

In WordPress, put the code in the single.php file at the top or bottom of the post, and it will appear on each post. You can see this cross-cultural communication tool on both the sidebar and single post here on GIC.

Install the widget where you want it.

Installation is as easy as any other widget. If you are not happy with the look and feel of the widget, just ask and I will tweak it a bit to match your website color scheme or the space available as soon as I can.

  • Select the version of the tool you like.
  • Clicking on its image below
  • This will take you to a text page where you can copy the script to put on your own website.

I love Google’s translator service. I just wish there was a way for the translator to translate each page on a site as you click around!

cindy 23 July, 2008 at 14:04 pm

You can at least make the translations possible on your site :-) . I am working on a widget to allow you to plug in a URL for sites that don’t use a widget like this.

Hey thanks for entrecard drop and reminding me of this tool. I have seen it often enough but haven’t integrated it yet. Maybe with the upgrade to wordpress 2.6 and the new theme layouts I will get in laid out through out my blog network.

Which translator do you advise?

cindy 15 August, 2008 at 18:36 pm

If you are selling something, you can onlu use a translator that speaks the destination language as their first language. I have lived in France over 20 years and speak near-native French. I am not a native speaker and have someone read over my copywriting and article writing lessons (people sign up at http://clienteleinternationale.com/).

To have a translation plugin or widget I use my own tool that uses the Google Translate service.

The widget I made translates your website into all 24 languages that Google supports. Just today I made it into a WordPress plugin that is free to install at http://getinternationalclients.com/translation-plugin/.

Once installed and activated it appears as an option in the widget panel so you can add it to your sidebar where you wish.

English Teacher, thank you for stopping by.

I give my personal opinions as an International Marketing and Sales Executive on my personal blog http://www.cindyking.biz

You might be interested in responding to my article on my observation that translation agencies always seem to present the same argument that human translations are the only option for all translation needs for companies today. Hi,
Thank you for sharing the free translate widget. I am so glad there was another option for us people, not using WordPress blogs. Take care! :-)

Terribly cool little gadget. I love it. I have friends in other parts of the world with whom I have always had difficulty communicating and this will open a new chapter for us. My husband and I had a difficult time putting on blogspot.com. It wanted an endmark for each language and messed up your spacing. We had to fiddle with the html. If you go and check it out on our site you will see that we really had to mess with it. Our sincere apologies. (We don’t know what we’re doing.) But it is still attributed to you I think. Please take a look and see if it is OK for you.

I have sent you a reply by email. It appears that you have accidentally removed part of the hyperlink to the translation engine. The pulgin link was verified and it is still correct and works. A copy of the plugin was mailed to you.
