Get International Clients Sunday blog carnival

Welcome to the 15 March, 2009 edition of the Get International Clients Sunday Blog Carnival.

SEO and International Marketing

Jonathan Bernd @jonathanbernd presents Is blogging important in international marketing? posted at Identifying & Developing New Markets Worldwide saying “Advertising Age published a list of the 934 most visited blogs. Somewhat unsurprisingly Seth Godin’s blog is at the top. Trolling this list however, it was very hard to find any non-US blogs. Coming in at number 3 was a blog based in Bahrain. An Australian blog hit number 10 and Italians and Canadians took the number 15 and 16 spots. Of the top 50 blogs 40 were from the US, 3 from Italy, 2 from Canada, and 1 each from Sweden, Bahrain, Australia, Netherlands and the UK.”

David Harry @thegypsy presents Geo-targeting checklist for local and international SEO posted at HouMah saying “After a run in with everyone’s favourite Aussie Webmaster, it seemed a quick checklist for geo-targeting your search optimization efforts could be an interesting exercise. While it is mostly based on the Google geo-targeting patents we looked at earlier, there are also some other elements I’ve added worth having.”

Mark Jackson presents International SEO Challenges and Tips posted at SearchEngineWatch saying “Here are a few challenges that companies with an international Web presence face, and some advice for how to create an optimal Web presence that can do well in international search engines.”

Navneet Kaushal @pagetraffic presents Geographical Data In Meta Tags for Your Local Business? posted at PageTrafficBlog saying “if you run a local online business, then you need to have a fair knowledge about the meta tags at some point or the other. For those who are completely clueless about this term, here is the explanation for meta tags (that play a very important role in SEO business): “Meta tags are HTML codes that are fitted into the header on a web page, after the title tag and give the visitor the extra information about the website he will be visiting.” Some people say that Meta tags hold no significance as search engines don’t give them much importance. They are right but not completely.”

Richard Baxter @richardbaxter presents Proxy Caching for International SEO posted at SEO Gadget saying “a good friend and I were talking about a problem he has with one of his (international) clients. Basically, he ranks really well in the UK but not so well around Europe and somewhat worse further afield. The site in question owns the right TLD’s, though I never really got to the bottom of how they are being used.”

David Isaac Lewallen @CybernautSEO presents International Link Building with DoFollow Blogs posted at CybernautSEO saying “Do follow blogs are a great way to increase your backlink profile. Though some argue that blog commenting (even on dofollow blogs) will not improve your rankings or authority. Well I would completely disagree with this. Primarily because Matt Cutts has said repeatedly that the best way to build links is by blogging. Well in order to be a blogger you not only have to blog but you also must participate on others blogs by submitting comments.”

Oban Multilingual @obansem presents Russians Trust Internet over Print posted at ObanMultilingual saying “Russians are gleaning their daily knowledge and insights from online blogs and forums, rather than placing trust in the traditional media. A Trust Guide 2008 survey showed that nearly twice as many Russians are taking stock of opinions in internet forums, discussions, blogs and chat rooms, compared to figures from 2007.”

Eduard Blacquière presents How to do International SEO? posted at Eduard Blacquière’s Search Marketing Blog saying “how do you manage to show up in the search results of a local search engine? Duncan Morris gives a list of 6 things you should use when aming for a local organic listing.”
