International Business Development Through Triple Marketing Power

Where Do You Start Your International Business Expansion?

Internet Marketing + Traditional Marketing + Integrated Marketing = International Business Expansion
Create An Integrated Marketing Strategy To Generate International Leads

There was a general trend in companies thinking that e-newsletters such as this one were also losing their appeal. Companies thought e-newsletters were no longer getting results.

First Example Of An Internet Marketing And Traditional Marketing Mix

Today many of the top internet marketers feel this is not the case…if the content is of value to the reader. Internet marketers see e-newsletters or ezines with good content as a useful way of building a relationship with people interested in what you have to say.Online businesses that create real relationships with their readers, can then offer hard copies of their newsletters. If the content is valuable to read, people are willing to give their physical addresses to have the leisure of reading a hard copy.

Hard copies sent to physical addresses also mean the ability to follow up with traditional direct mail.

Second Example Of An Internet Marketing And Traditional Marketing Mix

Companies can now buy qualified leads from some internet marketing companies which can provide qualified leads with names and telephone numbers of the leads just minutes after they entered their details and showing their interest.

Companies can order the number of these highly qualified leads in advance, and be asked to be notified within minutes of the lead capture.

This means when someone online is interested in a product and asks for more information, he can actually be surprised to get phone call from the company selling the product within minutes of his web surfing.

Internet Marketing + Traditional Marketing = More Business

Businesses are finding more and more ways to integrate internet marketing and traditional marketing with their overall marketing strategy. No matter how successful your business is, if you are only using one of the marketing methods, your business will increase its potential by using the other methods.International Business And The Right Marketing Mix

If it is better to have a marketing strategy using both internet and traditional marketing methods, how will this impact the cost of your international business expansion?

If you are actively promoting your company in foreign markets using internet marketing because it is cheap and relatively easy, this does not mean you need an expensive marketing budget.

It does mean that you will need to give thought to how you communicate with your foreign markets, and how to leverage the communication you do.

For a real presence in your foreign market you will need to invest in having some culturally specific content created for your foreign markets.

If you already have even a small international clientele from one specific country, you might be able to develop this market further with active sales and other marketing methods. Although you could avoid creating more culturally specific content, you would probably still benefit from the investment, and even more so because you obviously have a foreign market to develop.

You see, you need to develop targeted sales communication, and relationship building content, with each foreign market you want to expand into.

You can envisage creating an “International” version in English of some of your informative content to cut down the real foreign language sales content.

What is important is finding the appropriate way to communicate with your foreign markets at the most reasonable investment for you as you develop your business internationally.

An international marketing strategy using foreign language content does not have to require a huge budget. You will have to take on a traditional marketing mindset and strategize. You need to find the best way to capitalize and leverage each element of your internet and traditional marketing campaign.

What does this mean for small businesses just starting to develop their international markets?

You will need to take one thing at a time. Use internet marketing as much as you can. Ask yourself what you want to get out of your internet marketing for this particular 6 or 12 month period.

If your main priority is to get foreign market feedback so you can readjust your overall marketing. Determine the actions you can make to bring a little traditional marketing into play.

Going one step at a time, and readjusting your marketing and communication as you go will get you more international clients.

Use The Right Marketing Mix To Get Across International Barriers

Internet marketing and traditional marketing strategies need to work together to get through international barriers effectively.

Using both marketing methods will give you a much more powerful integrated marketing platform. Both can leverage the strength of the other exponentially. Internet based marketers can benefit from traditional marketing and traditional marketers can benefit from internet marketing.

Relying on one marketing method today to develop your international markets just will not be easy on a low budget.

Global business development relying on internet marketing alone is not possible for most businesses.

You need to build relationships between your foreign clients and your company and products.

Business Bootstrappers Way To International Marketing

If you don’t want heavy up-front investments for your international business expansion, here is what you should do:

First Step

First create a local internet presence in each country you are targeting. One at a time. This will keep things simple. It will allow your company to adjust to international business.

Second Step

The second step is to find the right touches of traditional marketing that will communicate best with each foreign market.

Third Step

Once you have identified the right touches, create your integrated marketing strategy for your international business expansion.

It is not difficult if you break things up and give yourself a little time to adjust your way of doing things to your foreign market’s way of doing things.

Example Of Websites With Global Business

It can be daunting when starting out. How do you go about creating a good global website and then culturally customized websites? There are many steps a company takes to become totally international. To give you an idea of what is recognized as a global website, have a look at another company website:

www.panasonic.com

Panasonic is rated by John Yunker as the 16th best global website in 2008.

On the first page of the main website it is evident Panasonic relies on templates to provide so many different country versions. I decided to check out the localized versions of this website. You have to click on the globe at the top to get the other country websites.

I personally did not like the map set up on the next page. It works. But all of the countries are listed in English. There are better, or should I say “more international” options for selecting your country available now.

I actually liked what came next. Panasonic appears to be using their templates intelligently. After clicking though several different country websites, I noticed they did not use the exact same templates.

The home pages appeared to have been adapted for each country.

Panasonic almost appeared to have a soul. That’s what I felt. Maybe I was expecting some cold corporate use of the same template on the www.panasonic.com home page.

Templates are a very useful tool to manage the multilingual aspects of having a large number of localized websites. It is a marketing challenge to keep them communicating appropriately with the audience.

John Yunker researches and publishes a list of the best globalized websites. Cisco Systems is 3rd on the list for 2008.

Q And A

Question: Why should I internationalize my website?

Answer: If you are serious about wanting to get international clients you will need to have what is called Localized Websites. At some stage down the road your company will create a website specifically for each country where you have clients.
Website localization is a multistep process to move towards culturally customized communication for that country.

Internationalizing your website is a valuable step prior to localizing your website. It makes your website friendly to international audiences. Very often domestic websites can turn foreign visitors off in seconds, simply because the website does not communicate well with them from.

It is not always the best business decision if you are just starting out in international markets. Or at least, it is not always possible to completely revamp your current website for international markets.

This is because your current website is probably written specifically for your domestic market.

Having said that, good website practices of writing clearly and making the website easy to navigate, also apply to international visitors. If you strive to make your website better for your own domestic market this will help you.

There are also a few other things you can do to make your website more friendly to international visitors. These little tweaks will help stop your website pushing foreign visitors away.

If you had a wide international market you could also envisage a totally “International” website and then have localized websites for all of the other countries, including for your domestic market. This would greatly facilitate the creation of your localized websites.

An International website also clearly positions your website to all visitors.
